About

Three years ago, my son Matthew made the transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.  We chose to be a part of Troop 945 in Damascus Maryland.  Troop 945 is a big Troop with more than 60 boys.  Here we are three years later, Matthew is almost a Life Scout, I am the next Scoutmaster of the Troop, and we are both heading to the Philmont Scout Ranch in the summer of 2011.

This blog is meant to document our preparation for Philmont, once that challenge is complete, I will continue to blog about Scouting in the great outdoors.

Best wishes on your coming adventure this summer at Philmont! I look forward to reading more as we hope to see our boys attend in the near future. Our troop in Alabama has grown in two years from 4 or 5 to 25 active scouts. My service is fundraising and it’s such a challenge to find a product of value that also interests the young boys (and parents). Sixty boys selling 15,000+ bags of mulch is impressive. Would you please give me details?
